Educational programs / to promote youths to eco agriculture
Advanced-Organic farming school. With RU (Ruhunu University) collaboration/underway.
• One days basic familiarization program on prospects of organic markets for beginners.
• Three month training program on organic farming.
• On going farm field training program for participatory farmers.
• One day program for coconut growers / land owners “Eco Fruit Farming under Coconut”. |
It is focused on to attract the younger generation to agriculture, government policy supports identified and has been decided to conduct training courses at their training centre and also conduct personality building programs to conduct the agriculture Training courses in a different way.
Students and youth from identified schools to get attracted to agriculture with environmental responsibilities. Pre arranged guided farm tours with eco demonstrations. Program on a theme “fruit tree watch - Name boards.”
• Regional schools international and Colombo schools on a theme of “day at eco fruit farm environment “ giving students a hands on experience outside the class room.
Promotion of educational School Visits
• School visits to the farm and conduct field tours out side the class room, with educational topics with value of environment preservation. And Host of other activities to make it a relaxed, enjoyable and also a memorable visit at the end of the day.
• Discussions with serving of healthy food to eat/ serve fruits tasting, why fruits are a healthy option such as banana least bio contaminated fruit,
pre biotic food such as yogurt and curd, low sodium and high potassium levels.
• What's organic farming and how it is becoming a fashion with markets which are booming. The benefits to health when having natural fruits which are free of chemicals and pesticides.
• Adventure / eco activities such as painting in a eco environment etc. aesthetics art exhibitions / competitions.
